Welcome Back, TVR!
We’re just a few days away from TVR’s much anticipated comeback, and to whet our appetites, TVR has given us a little teaser of what’s to come.
Of course when we say “teaser,” we actually mean a pretty decent look at the yet unnamed car. The teaser features an original early model TVR sitting alongside the new one, and right away, you can see early model influences in the new design (especially in the hood and front grille).
The new car will debut on September 8th at the Goodwood Revival, and comes on the 70th anniversary of TVR. This new reveal comes on the heels of what was a pretty dark period for TVR. The company shut down its Blackpool factory approximately 10 years ago, and after being bought out a new group of investors, announced this new model.
Performance-wise, we know that it will come with a 5.0L Cosworth V8 that can make about 400 HP per metric ton. Judging by the teasers above, we also know that a manual transmission will be available. The weight will be around 2,645 lbs, which will allow drivers to to reach 60 MPH in less than 4 seconds. Top speed will be 200 MPH.
TVR’s chairman, Les Edgar, says:
“It’s the first time a global launch of a new car has occurred at the event, and it seems an entirely appropriate place for us to do it, with the marque’s motorsport heritage and an enthusiastic audience of dedicated car fans — and in our 70th anniversary year. After a series of secret private viewings organized for the benefit of existing customers for the new car, we know that we have a surefire hit on our hands, and very much look forward to seeing the public reaction in September.”
