Jeremy Clarkson Begins Appeal Against Council Decision To Close Restaurant On Farm

Jeremy Clarkson, renowned television personality and owner of Diddly Squat Farm in the picturesque Cotswolds, has launched an appeal against the West Oxfordshire District Council over the council’s recent decision to refuse planning permission for the extension of the farm shop car park and the closure of his farm restaurant.

The council alleged that the business had been operating outside of the planning permissions granted, which prompted Jeremy to sell most of his cows and abandon his plans to convert his lambing barn into a restaurant serving beef dishes from his own herd.

Despite previously accepting defeat, Jeremy has now decided to contest the council’s decision and has highlighted the need for additional parking spaces, explaining that he has no intention of transforming the farm into an amusement park. He argued that the farm has become a popular destination after the first and second seasons of his show, Clarkson’s Farm, and the influx of visitors has caused significant parking and traffic issues in the area.

However, the council rejected Jeremy’s proposal to create a parking area in an adjacent field, citing concerns about the sustainability of the environment and the impact on the surrounding countryside. The hearing on March 14th will decide the outcome of the appeal.

The show, which first aired in 2021, has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the country, but the surge in visitors has led to significant concerns about the environmental impact and the strain on the local community.

Jeremy’s decision to challenge the council’s decision has garnered mixed reactions from the public. Some view it as a means to preserve the farm’s integrity and protect the community, while others see it as an attempt to capitalize on the farm’s newfound popularity.

Whatever the outcome, Diddly Squat Farm remains a unique blend of rural charm and celebrity appeal, and the controversy surrounding its future will undoubtedly continue to spark interest and debate.
