Jeremy Clarkson Deemed “Genius” As Clarkson’s Farm Show Idea Sets Him Up For Life

Jeremy Clarkson has been deemed to be a “genius” by fans of the presenter after the release of Clarkson’s Farm Season 2. The show was released to excellent reviews once again, but now fans are thinking of the business as a whole, calling it an amazing move from the ex-Top Gear presenter who is nearing his retirement.

A Reddit user by the name of u/ak22801 took to The Grand Tour Reddit page to discuss their thoughts on this sideways move from Jeremy. Calling the presenter a “genius”, he outlines how he’s built himself a pretty little nest egg for when he does choose to step away from TV work.

“Clarkson is getting old,” they write. “And coming off of a high as big as being the front face of Top Gear and living an insane life, can be really hard as you get older. You can easily fall into depression due to lack of ‘things to do’, memories of how things were, and staying relative. Especially when you have been a celebrity for 40 years.

“What does he do? He gets an amazing and beautiful farm. Likely one of the best farms money can buy. With professional help on the farm, and on top of that he has a massive house on said farm. The farm doesn’t really need to make him money, since he has plenty of it, so it’s more of a hobby. It’s nice if it does of course, and that’s the goal, but it’s not vital for his survival or in order to upkeep of his plush lifestyle.”

He’s certainly not wrong. Jeremy admitted in Clarkson’s Farm Season 1 that he could afford to experiment thanks to the income he makes from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. I’d highly assume that The Grand Tour adds to this nicely, so in total, I’m sure he has quite a bit of cash floating around. This doesn’t mean though that it doesn’t matter if the farm doesn’t make money. It simply gives him a buffer.

They continue:

“He tends to the fields, he buys cows, he stays busy with amazing help and with all new equipment. He doesn’t care when it will net positive with his investment…because why does it matter? He’s rich. And It’s something to do. It’s something to stay busy with. It’s beautiful, it’s calm, it’s peaceful, and he loves it. But then to sweeten the deal, he brings a part of his previous world, show production, and now he has an amazing show doing what he loves. It’s brilliant.

“Now as he is getting older he has something that keeps him busy, something he enjoys, but still somehow manages to be a tv production that’s enjoyed worldwide and keeps him a relative celebrity. And once he’s done with the show (if he decides not to move it to another network) he can just carry on enjoying and working on his little slice of heaven.

“It’s genius.”

It is genius. Jeremy has used the cash he’s making and his talent in front of the camera to start a successful farming business for what could potentially be next to no money. The income from Clarkson’s Farm, as well as his other projects, will likely have covered all of his costs and this has allowed him to build a valuable asset that he can live on for the rest of his life.

Let’s hope that he can successfully diversify his revenue enough to build trustworthy cash flow. Really, the only thing that stands in his way now is the council. And it looks like this could be a war that will come to an end sooner rather than later with Clarkson ending up victorious. We can only cross our fingers and hope.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
