It aired from 3:30 pm until 5:36pm Eastern time from the Miami International Autodrome, and viewership peaked at 2.9 million between 4:45 and 5:00pm just as Max Verstappen took the win of the weekend. 735,000 of those viewers were aged between 18-49. The full telecast, including the pre-race show on the Sunday, averaged 2.1 million viewers.
This is a huge win for Formula 1 as they continue to target the American market, especially as so far, each race of the season has averaged 1.4 million viewers. This is 49% more than the year prior which averaged a measly in comparison 949,000 viewers, and 131% higher than 2020. 2021 was the most watched F1 season so far, but it’s looking likely that 2022 will blow this out of the water.
The next racing weekend will see the F1 circus travelling to Barcelona, Spain, with the race of the weekend being held on the 22 May.♦ Follow Grand Tour Nation on Google News
