After 2021’s striking end, Red Bull has been enjoying a dominant 2022 with Mercedes safely out of the championship and Ferrari struggling with poor strategy and reliability issues. Now, team chief Christian Horner has spoken out about his experience during the Abu Dhabi GP to NOS.
“In all these years there have been countless highlights, but I can’t think of a moment that was more special than Abu Dhabi,” Horner told the outlet.
“After a year of fighting, every race like the round of a boxing match between two heavyweights, wheel to wheel until the last race. Nobody could have written that script.”
He outlines just how crazy he found the situation:
“We are a team run by an energy drink manufacturer competing in motor racing against big engine manufacturers like Mercedes and Ferrari.
“As Red Bull Racing, we have shown that if you want something really badly, and you act on it, you can win. Even from the dominant Mercedes.”
Red Bull struggled at the beginning of the 2022 season with power unit issues as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc stormed ahead. Now, Leclerc is struggling thanks to poor communication at Ferrari, and Verstappen has an almost uncatchable lead.♦ Follow Grand Tour Nation on Google News
