F1 News: FIA President Planning Important Meeting On “A Range Of Sporting Matters”

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA, has planned a meeting on Monday to assess “a range of sporting matters” as the F1 nears the end of the 2022 season.

The meeting will see Sulayem talk with race officials and team managers to improve the sport, with the controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix being at the top of his list. The FIA runner is looking to make a number of improvements following the dramatic race, as well as a number of topics that have come up this season.

One topic which has been revealed to being discussed will be the Remote Operations Centre (ROC), which was introduced after Abu Dhabi. The effectiveness of this has been argued over so far this season, so the coming meeting will look at examples of when this has been used and whether it portrayed a truthful evaluation of scenarios.

It’s been said however, that the FIA will continued “to invest in initiatives such as the ROC”, which will in turn support close and precise racing.

This quick addition to their calendars have come up after a number of talks between Sulayem and the drivers, and he plans for this to be a common event thanks to his “‘ongoing mission to improve the standards of the sport”. It’s fair to say he wants the management of teams to be involved with how the race evolves over the coming years. Despite this, these discussions will have no regulatory power.

This will be of great interest to fans of the sport as a meeting of this type hasn’t been undertaken since 2013.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
