F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Launches Exciting Collab For New Clothing Company

The 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton – who could potentially become an 8-time world champion if things to to plan for Mercedes this week – is starting a new clothing like under the name +44. After designing clothing for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and obviously having a huge interest in fashion, this comes as no surprise. But today, the company has announced plans to collaborate.

With the brand looking to tell “the inner race” of the Formula 1 driver, its Instagram account alone boasts 117,000 followers. Now, the brand has confirmed with a photo that it will be collaborating with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to produce a “transformative collection”. Talking to Highsnobiety, Hamilton explained what he wants from the brand:

“When I launched +44, I wanted to create bold, brave and transformative collections that made people feel the most authentic versions of themselves.

“There is no one I consider more suited to help me achieve this than Murakami. He has consistently been at the forefront of street culture for decades, famous for his unique designs which are instantly identifiable as his.”

Murakami is known to create designs that co-align with anime and manga genres. He’s been set the task to understand Hamilton’s “unmatched talent” and put that into a design that reflects this idea as well as “what makes us different”:

“He [Hamilton] is known for being a creative and inspirational force at everything he puts his hand to and his new creative lab +44 world is no different,” Murakami said.

“We’ve worked together to make each piece reflective of our shared passion for the unique, psychedelic and a celebration of what makes us all different. Those who know Lewis can expect this collaboration to be a reflection of his unmatched talent.”
