F1 News: Red Bull and Porsche to join forces for 2026 [Update – Denied By Porsche]

Update

We’ve been contacted by Porsche US who has confirmed that no announcement is planned and no decision has been made. The official words are:

“Oliver Blume already said at Porsche AG’s annual press conference on 18 March 2022 that Porsche is examining participation in the racing series. A final decision is still pending.”

Porsche’s return to F1 has been speculated for some time now, and it seems that Red Bull and Porsche will announce their partnership for the 2026 season during the Austrian GP this weekend.

With 2026 marking the start of F1’s next big regulation change, Porsche intends to prepare itself for a competitive return to the sport.

According to the French outlet autohebdo, Red Bull and Porsche have reached an agreement that the German manufacturer will supply Red Bull with engines for the next major regulations.

Red Bull’s partnership with Honda ended with great success in 2021, but with Honda announcing their departure from the sport, the Austrian squad was left in a difficult position.

Whilst the team was begun their Red Bull Powertrains division, an alliance with Porsche, seems like the best way for the team to move forward.

The top three teams in F1 – Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull – are engine manufacturers or (in the case of Red Bull) have a supplier that works exclusively with them.

Considering this fact, Red Bull understands the importance of having a deal with Porsche, so they do not rely on rival teams to supply them with their power units moving forward.
