F1 News: Red Bull Chief Reveals What Forced Sergio Perez To Retire

After a difficult qualifying session for Sergio Perez after he hit the wall in Q2, the Sunday of the Canada Grand Prix didn’t go to plan either as he was forced to retire after what was thought to be gearbox issues after only 8 laps.

Now, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has explained what went wrong:

“He’s lost drive, gearbox issue but we need the car back,” Horner told Sky Sports. The exact reason they’re yet to determine. “Disappointing for Checo, he could’ve been quick out there today.”

Max Verstappen has just taken first place at the Canadian Grand Prix after an amazing battle between himself and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton followed in third after some incredible driving and newfound performance for Mercedes.

Christian Horner continued before the race end:

“We just need to get our heads down now and do our best with Max. It could be a two-stopper, particularly for us. Depends how the deg is over the next ten or so laps.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
