F1 News: Sebastian Vettel Admits He Could Return To F1 After Retirement

As we’ve previously reported, Sebastian Vettel will be leaving F1 at the end of the 2021 season. The four-time F1 champion will be looking to spend more time with his family, fight for a brighter future for his children, and enjoy the fruits of his labour. But now he’s revealed that this might not be the last we see of him.

Ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, the Aston Martin driver spoke to the press about his thoughts on the iconic racing track of Suzuka.

“It is a great track for many reasons,” he told the press on being asked about the track. He was also asked if he’d want to return after retirement:

“Who knows what the future brings? Obviously, I love driving, and I think around this track I always felt very alive, and the passion felt or feels very alive.”

“We will see what type of car maybe in the future will come up.

“Maybe if one of these guys in the future races here feels a bit sick. I don’t know, I don’t wish them to feel so, but I wouldn’t mind jumping back in for a race at Suzuka at any time.”

He was then asked if he was serious about his answer

“One race, one race career in the future. Yeah, if anybody is happy to sign up a driver for a single race. I’m sure those guys wouldn’t be happy to step aside, but that would be something I’d seriously consider.”

There you have it folks. This might not be the last we see of Vettel, and that makes me very happy.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
