F1 News: Sergio Perez Fights Back Over FIA Discussion After British Grand Prix

Sergio Perez has lashed out at the FIA over salary caps for F1 drivers after Zhou Guanyu’s horrific crash during the first lap of the British Grand Prix. Perez reflected on the incident during a post-race interview in front of the British crowds at Silverstone where he admitted that it was “hard to see”.

The fact that Zhou was unhurt from the crash is a testament to F1’s engineering of its cars and the safety advancements it’s made over the last few years.

“It’s been a while since we’ve seen an accident like that,” Perez told the English Medium. “It’s hard to see that, try to erase it from your mind and concentrate on what you need to do.”

With this happening during talks about driver salary caps being brought in to the sport, this hasn’t reflected well on the FIA’s decision making right now.

“We are the ones who take all the risk and give a show. So I don’t think it’s good to talk about that now. The most important thing today is that nobody got hurt.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
