F1 News: Sergio Perez Signs New Contract With Red Bull

After huge success at the Monaco Grand Prix, Serio Perez has signed a new contract with Red Bull which will see him driving for the team next year. Unfortunately, it’s not the multi-year contract he wanted, but this will have kept him under the team for a third year and will hopefully see the Mexican driver add plenty of victories to his name.

The contract was confirmed today, with some rumouring it’s this early because he was caught on camera joking with Red Bull chief Christian Horner. “Probably signed too early,” you could see him saying on camera after his brilliant Monaco win.

Perez will continue to race alongside Max Verstappen, with there currently being only 15 points between the drivers so far this season, with Horner confirming that Perez could definitely be in the running to take the 2022 championship.

“He’s in this championship just as much as Max is. The difference between the two of them is 15 points now, it’s nothing, so it’s a long way to go in this championship,” he said on after the race last Sunday.

This has put an end to rumours of Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso moving to Red Bull alongside Verstappen, with the former most likely to remain at AlphaTauri for the time being.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
