F1 News: Tsunoda apologises after taking out teammate Gasly

Alpha Tauri will leave Silverstone very frustrated, missing out on the opportunity to score good points and take a significant step forward in the constructors.

Whilst running comfortably in the points and looking very competitive, Tsunoda hit teammate Pierre Gasly in a botched overtaking manoeuvre, forcing Gasly to retire and ruining his race.

Following the race, Tsunoda apologised for his mistake on social media:

First of all, really glad to hear Zhou and Alex are ok. About the collision with Pierre today, huge apologies to my team, people in the factory, fans, and especially Pierre.

That was completely mi mistake. I’ll be back stronger in Austria

Yuki Tsunoda has shown signs of improvement this season, with his P7 finish at Imola representing his best performance of the season.

However, Alpha Tauri and Red Bull are not known for being lenient with their drivers, so Tsunoda must ensure he avoids repeating such costly mistakes.

Red Bull’s juniors aren’t doing enough to make a rock-solid case for promotion into F1. Still, with consecutive blunders in Canada and Britain (alongside bad luck in Jeddah and Baku), Tsunoda must ensure he has a clean weekend in Austria and extracts everything from the AT03.
