F1 Rumours: Nikita Mazepin To Attend Press Conference On Haas Team Drama Tomorrow
It’s been revealed that Nikita Mazepin will be talking about his recent split from American-owned F1 team Haas in a press conference tomorrow at 9am GMT. Fans will be very interested to hear his views on what happened as Haas removed not only him, but its leading Russian sponsor from the team after Russian invaded Ukraine earlier this month.
The f1 has cancelled its contract with the Russian Grand Prix and Motorsport UK has confirmed that Russian and Belarussian drivers will not be allowed to compete in the UK.
Originally, the FIA confirmed that Mazepin would be able to race during 2022 after the FIA, and therefore neutral flag. But as more and more pressure was placed on the team, it’s no surprise that they removed the driver as well as its sponsor Uralkali.
Now, the team is looking at Mazepin’s replacement, with all eyes turning to Pietro Fittipaldi.
But before then, we’ll hear more about Mazepine’s reaction to this only a few days after he released a statement to Twitter:
“I am very disappointed to hear that my F1 contract has been terminated.
“While I understand the difficulties, the ruling from the FIA plus my ongoing willingness to accept the conditions proposed were completely ignored, and no process was followed in this unilateral step.”
There’s also a rumour than Niko Hulkenberg could be brought in to replace Mazepin as he’s currently a reserve driver for Aston Martin, but Ralf Schumacher, uncle to Haas teammate Mick Schumacher, doesn’t believe this will happen:
“I cannot imagine that team boss Guenther Steiner would reactivate his old contacts with Nico Hulkenberg and bring a second German into the team.
“I would be surprised.”
