Sergio Perez Caused Dramatic End To Dutch GP Qualifying: “It Was A Big Shunt”
Qualifying at the Dutch Grand Prix came to a dramatic end with Sergio Perez spinning out right at the last minute. Just as his teammate, Max Verstappen, had taken the fastest lap the yellow flag sign appeared before others were able to finish their flying laps.
So, Verstappen took pole position with a time of 1:10.342, followed by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz for Ferrari in second and third, respectively. This is Verstappen’s second pole in a row at his home race and is his fourth pole position of the 2022 season.

In his post race interview, Sergio Perez explained the spin out. He said:
“In the end i was quite lucky not to damage the car more, it was a big shunt. I was on a good lap but unfortunately was not able to improve.
When asked about how he felt starting in fifth tomorrow on a track that is known to be difficult to overtake on, Perez said:
“It is going to be a tricky one to make some progress but I will try my best.”
Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, said:
“If he had finished, he would have probably been on the second row.”
