F1 News: Alex Albon’s Williams Catches Fire In Qualifying Distaster

Williams driver, Alex Albon, has suffered a premature end to his qualifying run at Imola.

Albon was seven seconds off the leader in FP1 earlier today whilst looking quite shaky. However, very shortly into qualifying, his tyres set on fire to the rear of his car. It looked as though it was the rear brakes on fire leading to smoke coming from the back and there was a lot of debris left on the track behind him.

As the red flags came out, Albon said to his team on the radio:

Holy f*ck! I just lost a brake pedal,”

This seems to be a recurring issue for Williams as Albon’s teammate Nicholas Latifi experienced similar issues during testing this year. Hopefully Williams can get this sorted to prevent any further DNFs this season.

Luckily, despite losing a brake pedal, Albon was able to get the car back into the pits where he retired from qualifying.
