F1 News: Alpine’s extensive list of candidates for 2023

It would not be a normal day in Formula 1 without another report about Alpine’s driver situation for 2023, as the paddock continues to wait for the French team’s decision.

Otmar Szafnauer has provided more information about Alpine’s extensive options for next year, which includes drivers currently in F1 and outside of it.

Pierre Gasly is one of the front-runners to drive for Alpine. However, the situation regarding Colton Herta’s Super License presents a seemingly endless number of possibilities for the Enstone team.

As quoted by Sky Germany, Otmar Szafnauer has explained Alpine’s 2023 shortlist.

“Of course, we have a list of candidates, and Pierre is also on this list. All good drivers are on our list.

“We’re also talking to the German drivers [Hulkenberg and Schumacher]. I get along well with both of them, both are extremely fast. But we still have to make a decision.

“In addition to Esteban, we need someone with experience and speed. And on our list also includes the German drivers.

“Herta’s Super License is certainly also a decisive factor. But we have to wait for the decision of the FIA. The rules for the Super License should also include exceptions in certain situations.”
