F1 News: British Grand Prix Angers Fans With Ridiculous Price Increase
The prices for the 2023 British Grand Prix have been published by Silverstone, but fans have launched complaints at the track after seeing that they’ve been increased massively after the increase in the popularity of the sport.
This will be the 77th race at Silverstone, but fans are complaining about the steep rise in prices after a record-breaking attendance this year of 401,000 people. Despite this, this is one of the most popular tracks in the F1 calendar, being home to some of the greatest drivers on the planet including 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Very disappointed to learn @SilverstoneUK have started with priority booking for £99. Presumably necessary if you want good grandstand seats. Just another lousy way to price out the fans who are already ripped off compared to other F1 venues… especially during these times pic.twitter.com/WFhnVzTFxk

Silverstone sent out a notification notifying fans that tickets are about to go on sale starting from $100. This 3-figure expense only covers FP1 and FP2 on the Friday, with race day tickets starting at double that and looking to increase sharply.
“We’ll be on sale soon,” the site says. “When we are, you’ll need to book fast; our prices will be increased based on demand. These prices will automatically refresh after every 90 seconds.”
Twitter users have been going mad at the track for this, with one user calling them “Ryanair”
Oh great. @SilverstoneUK have turned into Ryanair.
In a year when we are all struggling, my advice would be to go to the Spanish GP, or Hungary, which have cheaper tickets, cheap accommodation nearby, and you’ll get a nice holiday too. pic.twitter.com/ZikWMygryo

Another calls Silverstone “hungry for cash”:
At least I’ll be able to watch the race with my hoomans if they are priced out of the British Grand Prix next year.
Sounds like Silverstone are more hungry for cash than I am for sausages.

Another adds that “these stupid games will just upset fans”.
Oh dear @SilverstoneUK you may have become a little tone deaf.
Asking fans for £99 just to qualify for access to tickets is shocking.
Putting your prices up every 90 seconds based on demand is even worse.
Just pick a price and stick to it. These stupid games just upset fans

Plenty more have added their annoyance to the social site:
this whole Silverstone thing is a JOKE.
i live in the UK and it would be cheaper for me to fly to another country and go to a grand prix there than to go here. Why are they making it so inaccessible/unaffordable? we are literally in a cost of living crisis aswell????— 🌹❣️ (@megscedes_) September 7, 2022
are you telling me i have to pay 99 great british pounds to get early access to silverstone tickets and on top of that the price will raise every 90 seconds? are you kidding me????

This is absolutely vile @SilverstoneUK. I wanted to do my first full weekend but I’m not sure now 🙄 https://t.co/MYWC3fABDZ
