F1 News: Charles Leclerc Congratulates Max Verstappen On 2022 Championship Win

Charles Leclerc has congratulated Max Verstappen on not only a brilliant race today, but his 2022 World Championship win. The Monegasque made a mistake at the end of the race, braking late and cutting a corner which was deemed as gaining an advantage.

This resulted in a 5-second penalty, placing him in P3 behind Verstappen and Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. Because of this, Verstappen has a point lead that is unreachable by any other driver on the grid.

“Front lap 5 onwards it was all downhill. Really struggling with the tyres. A bit like the last race warming up the tyres and then struggling after 3/4 laps. Struggled this time. A huge congratulations to Max for his second world championship,” Leclerc told Johnny Herbert after the race

“Max’s title this year is just a matter of time. We knew and expected him to win the title, but now we need to use those last races to become a better team and hopefully put more of a challenge next year.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
