F1 News: Fernando Alonso Likens Max Verstappen To Him – “You Cannot Teach That”
Two-time F1 champion, Fernando Alonso, is looking ahead to the 2023 season with his new team, Aston Martin.
It was announced earlier in the 2022 season that Alonso was going to be parting ways with the Alpine team and moving to Aston Martin, taking Sebastian Vettel’s seat who has just retired.
Alonso has been known throughout his long F1 career to be able to push the cars to the maximum. In an interview with Speedcafe.com, Alonso explained that this is an attribute that cannot be taught and that you just need to have it within you. He continued to explain that he saw the same trait in Max Verstappen who just won his second championship in 2022. Alonso said:
“I think you cannot teach that, I think it has to come from yourself. I think Max is one of those, and he has been always like that, you know, from go karts to now so it should not be a surprise for anyone.”
Alonso made his debut in Formula 1 in 2001, driving for the Minardi team. He quickly made a name for himself as a talented young driver and in 2003, he joined the Renault team. It was with Renault that Alonso had his most successful years in Formula 1, winning back-to-back World Championships in 2005 and 2006.
After his successful stint with Renault, Alonso moved on to drive for a number of other teams, including Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine (formerly known as Renault). Throughout his career, Alonso has consistently been one of the top drivers in the sport and has consistently finished on the podium in many races.
In addition to his success on the track, Alonso is also known for his technical expertise and his ability to work closely with his engineers to develop and improve the performance of his car. He is considered one of the most complete drivers in the history of Formula 1 and is regarded as one of the best drivers of his generation.
