F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Fuming Over Strategy Choice – “I Can’t Believe You Guys F****** Me!”
For the first time this 2022 F1 season, Mercedes looked like they were going to take a 1-2 podium finish this weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix. But after a strange choice of strategy by Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton ended up 4th behind Charles Leclerc, with teammate George Russell coming P2 behind winner Max Verstappen.
The issue started when the safety car was deployed during the final portion of the race. Both Mercedes were told to stay out in positions 1 and 2, but Russell forced himself into the pit asking for soft tyres due to his current tyres showing high degradation.
This removed Russell as the barrier between race leader Hamilton and Verstappen, angering the 7-time world champion.
Removing Russell from between the Silver Arrow and the Bull, Verstappen quickly took the lead when the safety car was pulled in.
