F1 News: McLaren To Wear Senna Branding At The Monaco Grand Prix
Ayrton Senna won all of his three championship titles while driving for the McLaren team, so it’s no surprise that the team feels a strong connection to the late driver. The Brazilian died at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix behind the wheel of a Williams, who have chosen to continue designing their cars with the S initial on the noses of their cars. That’s until this year when they stopped doing so.
From today at the Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren has picked up the responsibility of honouring the driver, with them adding the Senna branding to their own cars on the side of the halo.
“We are honoured to carry the Ayrton Senna name from the Monaco GP onwards,” a video from McLaren said. “His bravery, commitment and ingenuity continue to set the standard for our team to this day.”

McLaren CEO Zak Brown told the press: “I can’t think of a better race than the Monaco Grand Prix to commence this recognition of Ayrton’s life. Having won the grand prix six times, more than any other driver, Ayrton proved that his skill and ability behind the wheel of an F1 car could rarely be matched.
Senna is a legend in the world of F1, winning world titles in 1988, 1990, and 1991 and took 35 wins from only 96 starts under McLaren.
