F1 News: Nicholas Latifi still undecided on racing future
Nicholas Latifi’s career in Formula 1 will conclude this year, with America’s Logan Sargeant set to replace him for next season.
Latifi has struggled for much of this season to extract the potential within the FW44 but will still have options in other racing categories for 2023.
Reports have emerged linking the Canadian to a potential switch to IndyCar next season, but Latifi made clear in the Mexican GP Thursday press conference that nothing has been confirmed yet for next season.
“It’s all just rumours. I haven’t decided on anything yet for my future.
“I mean, of course, I’ve been exploring options. IndyCar is a series I’m considering, for sure, but I’ve not decided on anything yet.
“I think if the right opportunity in the right series [comes about]… again, at this point in time, I can’t exactly say what the right series is because I haven’t made up my mind yet.
“It’s definitely still on the table, but at the same time, if there’s not an option on the table that I feel is the right one for next year, then I’m not necessarily ruling out taking a year to then put something better together for the following one.”
