F1 News: Nikita Mazepin To Take Legal Action Against Haas – “I Didn’t See My Money”
Now, talking to the Russian media outlet RBC, he reveals that he is taking them to court over an unpaid salary, adding that this is “personal” and that the legal action does not involve Uralkali.
“When the contract was terminated, Haas had a salary arrears to me for 2022,” Mazepin told the press.
“I’m just talking about the fact that contractual obligations were not fulfilled.
“You also need to understand that we had two independent contracts and breaking the agreement with the title sponsor [Uralkali] did not have a direct impact on my future in the team.
“So they made two separate decisions. I didn’t see my money, so we’re going to court.”
In a similar fashion, F1 cut ties with the Russian Grand Prix and its promotor Rosgonki, cancelling it for the foreseeable future. According to Mazepin, the promotor was “paid money” when the date was cancelled. He wants Haas to act in a similar way.
“According to my information, Formula 1 paid money to Rosgonki for the cancelled Russian Grand Prix and, thereby, set an example of etiquette,” he said.
“There are business relations and you can’t go wild, this is wrong. Unfortunately, not everyone is guided by this.”
