F1 World Goes Crazy Over Alpine And Oscar Piastri Drama
The retirement of Sebastian Vettel has thrown the F1 world into madness after the Aston Martin seat was opened up. The seat at Aston was soon taken by Fernando Alonso, leaving what we expected to be an open-and-shut case of who would fill his seat. But what happened had us all getting the popcorn out.
As we expected, Alpine quickly confirmed that their reserve driver, Oscar Piastri, took the seat. They confirmed this on Twitter, where they said:

“After four years as part of the Renault and Alpine family, Reserve Driver Oscar Piastri is promoted to a race seat alongside Esteban Ocon starting from 2023.”

“I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.”
