Netflix has confirmed the release date for the highly-anticipated fifth season of “Formula 1: Drive To Survive.” The popular motorsport series will return on February 24, 2023, giving fans a chance to relive all the behind-the-scenes drama and on-track action from the 2022 Formula 1 season.
In a post on social media, Netflix gave fans a sneak peek of what to expect from the upcoming season. The first four seasons of “Drive to Survive” have helped to increase the popularity of Formula 1 in America, and the addition of the Miami and Las Vegas Grand Prix to the calendar is a testament to this.
The 2023 Formula 1 season is set to kick off with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 5, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the next series of “Drive to Survive” to relive some of the biggest moments from the 2022 season. We can expect to see coverage of the Red Bull cost cap saga, the Red Bull and Sky Sports boycott, and hopefully some insight into Ferrari’s many strategical errors.
One of the most notable moments from the 2022 season was the opening Bahrain GP, where both Red Bulls retired from the race. Additionally, Zhou Guanyu’s horrific crash at the British Grand Prix and Lewis Hamilton’s impressive double-overtake at Silverstone were also highlights.
Red Bull and Max Verstappen dominated the 2022 season, winning the Constructor’s Championship and Driver’s Championship, respectively. Ferrari started the year off strong but encountered reliability issues with the cars and strategical errors, ultimately resulting in Mattia Binotto stepping down as team principal. Mercedes had a difficult year, but made significant improvements towards the end of the season with the Brazilian Grand Prix being a highlight for the team. George Russell took his first career win at the Interlagos track with Hamilton coming in second.
The release of the fifth season of “Formula 1: Drive To Survive” on February 24th is eagerly anticipated by fans, and the sneak peek video has already generated excitement for the upcoming release.
