Grand Theft Auto 6 Confirmed By Rockstar Games, Plus Next-Gen Migration

Grand Theft Auto V has been around since 2013. Can you believe that? It’s been almost ten years and the game is still one of the most popular on its consoles. But after the recent San Andreas cash cow, fans of the series are getting tired of hearing nothing about what’s to come in the future. But now Rockstar Games has announced that the next GTA title is currently being developed.

Unfortunately, there’s very little information to go on, with the launch date still under wraps. The studio is keeping us waiting, telling us that they will reveal “more as soon as we are ready.” They said the following:

“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.”

Regardless of when this new game comes, Rockstar Games will continue to update Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, and on March 15, the company will be launching the two games onto the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. These versions will feature 4k resolution, up to 60FPS, better textures and draw distances, and ray-tracing as well as HDR options.

On top of this, the 3D audio experience is getting an overhaul, and the game’s haptic feedback is also getting an upgrade depending on which console you’re running it on. This, as well as faster loading times, is all down to the improved hardware of the consoles.

But don’t worry, you’ll be able to transfer your progress and character from your old console to the new with one-time migration.

If you haven’t yet started GTA Online, the new console versions will be free for the first three months, and Rockstar Games promises improvements to gameplay, and access to Hao’s Special Works auto shop where special vehicles can be modified.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
