Behind the Scenes of The Grand Tour In the UK

Ever wondered what it looks like behind the cameras on the sets of The Grand Tour? Take a look at the behind the scenes of the Ford Mustang VS Focus drag race clip from episode 6, ‘Happy Finnish Christmas’.

As you can see, its not as easy as taking the shot, editing it into the reel and away you go. It’s a monotonous journey of planning, repetition, changing angles, summarising, editing… Let’s just say it’s a hard task – mainly because I only have a very basic understanding of what actually goes on and Google isn’t playing ball today.

You can see by how many times everything is repeated that it’s a hard job… for everyone but Richard, who has the easy task of repeatedly lighting up the rear tyres of his V8 powered muscle car and powering it down the makeshift drag strip… And of course Jeremy who has the fortune of doing the same in the Focus RS. Life’s hard isn’t it?

They’ve got the best jobs haven’t they? Although let’s not forget that they basically write the thing alongside other heroes such as Richard Porter who followed them from Top Gear and the BBC to The Grand Tour and Amazon. And this is all alongside other projects such as DriveTribe and writing for other media outlets.

I wish for more hours in the day. I’d be surprised if the trio even separate their days with sleep.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
