Grand Tour Producer Hints At Reason Behind Only Two Episodes Per Year: “Jesus Christ This Is Too Much”

The producer of The Grand Tour, Andy Wilman, has talked about the relationship between Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May as the most recent episode of the Prime Video car show is released. Describing their chemistry less as a friendship and more like a band, Wilman goes on to confirm that their time in front of the cameras won’t be coming to an end any time soon.

Talking to the press, including Grand Tour Nation, Andy admitted that “their relationship is intense and it’s more like a band”.

Adding that they are incredibly involved in the making of the show, he said:

“They bicker and do think things differently and so on, because they are so much part of it.

“So they have fallouts and then they come back together, and so on and so on.”

With fans of the trio worrying that the show could likely come to an end within the coming years, Andy also confronted these fears, addressing their age and how it affects filming:

“There’s a bit of age creeping in now, James was taking longer to get out of the hotel and they were like ‘Jesus, what is he doing now?'”

Despite this, he is adamant that their relationship will continue but hinted at the reason behind the fact they don’t film a number of episodes each year anymore:

“I can see when they’re in an old people’s home in about 15 years what it will be like, you get the signs of it.

“They will be bickering or just concentrating on separate, small things, but their relationship is still fully there.”

He continued:

“The relationship is fully there, they are still witty together and they’re still happy in each other’s company.

“I wouldn’t know what it would be like if they did twelve shows, they might be like ‘Jesus Christ this is too much.”

The Grand Tour: A Scandi Flick was released to Prime Video on the 16th of September, and while some fans have complained about it sounding scripted – something Grand Tour Nation can confirm it is not – the majority of viewers reviewed the episode very highly.
