James May Reveals He Argued With Jeremy Clarkson Over Recent Grand Tour Episode Moment: “I’m A Bit Wishy-Washy And Woke These Days”

In a recent interview with James May, he revealed that while there are pros and cons to working alongside Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson, he still finds it more difficult producing a solo show compared to the likes of The Grand Tour.

But after the latest episode of The Grand Tour was released, he noted that he’d argued with Jeremy over a key part.

The last episode of The Grand Tour, Carnage A Trois, followed the trio as they celebrated French culture while staying within the UK thanks to lock down rulings. Showing a disregard for their cars’ state of damage, they explained how the french use cars as tools and nothing more. Despite this, they build some of the greatest cars in the world such as the Citroen SM.

But James told the press that Jeremy wasn’t keen on one car they filmed with:

“We had an argument about the 2CV because I think it’s a wonderful thing,” James May revealed to the Radio Times. During the episode, they dropped the 2CV from a crane, which James wasn’t such a fan of.

“Jeremy, however, hates it!”

“We always consider what we do”.

“I particularly consider things because I’m a bit wishy-washy and woke these days.”

Fortunately for James, his latest solo project has allowed him to have almost full creative control over what he does, although he has admitted that his director has pushed him to do things he doesn’t like to make good TV.

“I like to do anything that’s sort of artistic, creative and food and wine obviously and that’s what I’m allowed to do.

“But in return, the producers, directors and researchers make me do things that I definitely don’t want to do.”

Telling the interviewer that he’d been made to play “canoe polo”, he admitted that he “hated it.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
