The Grand Tour

Jeremy Clarkson News: Presenter Is Now Facing Being Dropped From ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Rumours have started circulating that Prime Video are going to cut ties with The Grand Tour host, Jeremy Clarkson, following his controversial Meghan Markle column for The Sun which was met with a huge amount of backlash. The host may now also be facing losing his job as the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ host with ITV.

According to the MailOnline, a spokesperson said that ITV “has a further series contractually commissioned and due to film” but confirmed there are “no further commissioning commitments beyond that currently”.

Since the reports regarding Prime Video dropping the presenter surfaced, fans of the former Top Gear host have been urging the streaming service to keep him on as well as threatening to cancel their subscription.

When the column initially came out Kevin Lygo, ITV Studios managing director, condemned Clarkson for what he wrote but that they have no control over it. He said:

“I would say what he writes in a newspaper column… We have no control over what he says.

“We hire him as a consummate broadcaster of the most famous quiz on television, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

“So it’s not quite in our wheelhouse but I don’t know what he was thinking when he wrote that. It was awful.”

When asked if ITV would keep Clarkson on at the time, Lygo responded:

“Yes, at the moment we are.”

We are still waiting on formal announcements from Prime Video and ITV over Clarkson’s future. The reports indicate that The Grand Tour will have four more specials and Clarkson’s Farm will end after season three. There have also been no comments from those working closely with Clarkson who are sure to be affected by all of this, Richard Hammond, James May, and Kaleb Cooper, to name a few.
