Jeremy Clarkson: Public Calls For ITV To Fire Grand Tour Presenter

Jeremy Clarkson’s comments on Meghan Markle in his latest column for The Sun have upset a lot of people and have resulted in him trending on Twitter with a huge amount of backlash. Some are calling for ITV to fire The Grand Tour host from ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ for his comments, as well as The Sun and The Sunday Times.

Clarkson wrote in his column:

“At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.

“Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.”

Twitter has gone wild with the release of the column. Gender equality campaigner, Gina Martin, wrote:

“Retweet if you think big media channels have a responsibility, when women are dying every three days from misogyny and male violence, not to legitimise and embolden abusive misogynistic views. ITV should fire Jeremy Clarkson.”

Martin continued:

The times should fire Clarkson. The sun should too. Misogynoir isn’t journalism. I’m so over us passing off dangerous men as “idiots” or “provocateurs”.

TV personality, Carol Vorderman, also commented on the former Top Gear hosts column. She wrote:

NO Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it ok to write this stuff about any woman & absolutely NO to “everyone who’s my age thinks the same” No no no. We absolutely do NOT think the same. Listen to the noise Jeremy. The crowds are chanting “shame on YOU”

As well as many Twitter users, Clarkson’s daughter Emily has also taken a stand against her father to publicly disagree with his comment. Clarkson has been commenting on Meghan Markle a lot over the past few weeks with the release of her Netflix show with Prince Harry which depicts their side of what went on with the Royal Family. However, Clarkson’s latest comments have taken things to a whole new level.
