Richard Hammond Discusses Possibility Of Strictly Come Dancing Appearance: “Die Of Shame And Embarrassment”
Richard Hammond has spoken about the possibility of starring on BBCs Strictly Come Dancing in the future.
Strictly Come Dancing is a reality dancing show where celebrities are taught how to dance with their professional dancer partner and compete every weekend.
If an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing does come to fruition it would be completely different to what fans are used to seeing the Grand Tour host doing. Hammond first came onto our screens in 2002 to host Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson, where James May joined them a little later. After Clarkson had to leave in 2015, Hammond and May left with him and the trio went to Prime Video to present The Grand Tour. Hammond’s latest venture is The Smallest Cog workshop as featured on his Discovery+ series, Richard Hammond’s Workshop.
When speaking to The Express, Hammond was asked if he would have a go at the dancing series. He responded:
“They have made noises about it. Maybe one day… but I won’t let my daughters know. When that happened they absolutely screamed in horror.
“I would no longer be considered their father if I did it that, they’d die of shame and embarrassment.”
Hammond has also discussed his workshop business. The first series of Richard Hammond’s Workshop showed the former Top Gear host starting the business and getting it going. About a year down the line and Hammond has revealed that they are still trying to turn over a profit. During an appearance at the Classic Car & Restoration Show at the NEC in Birmingham, Hammond unveiled The Smallest Cog Racing Team which they will be using as a way of promoting the business and getting close to potential customers.
It sounds as though Hammond’s family may not be 100% about a potential stint on Strictly Come Dancing, but here’s to hoping we see him out of his comfort zone in the future.
The second series of Richard Hammond’sWorkshop is available now on Discovery+.
