The Buick Grand National Reborn in Provocative Renders

The Buick Grand National was the insanely high performance version of the Regal, which Buick sold in the 80s. At one point, their GNX version of the National was found to be faster in a straight line than the Lamborghini Countach and Ferraris of the day.

As hard as that could be to imagine, thanks to its turbo-charged V6, Buick’s strange car became an American icon. Now, the company hardly makes anything of note.

That is, unless they decided to take a cue from artist Oscar V., and bring back the Grand National for a modern audience.

Kept the wheel styles and badges; the headlights and grille similar to the original except these would be LEDs.

As you could probably tell from the render, Oscar has drawn from the current Cadillac ATS-V. If we carry over the Cadillac’s engine, the Grand National would get a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 with 464 horsepower.

With the same logic, it would have RWD, and a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.

Of course the vents, scoop, wheels, and mainly the grille all hearken back to the 1987 model.  The rectangular headlights would now be LED, but sure do carry over the styling of the original.

It’s amazing how well the artist made the Grand National obviously recognizable, despite its body swap. What do you guys think, skip or drip?
