The Grand Tour Enters Slovakia As James May Forced To Drive Hot Rod

The Grand Tour continues its road trip through Poland after a disastrous start to the trip after presenter Richard Hammond crashed his racecar in the city of Poznan. Now, it looks like they’ve entered Slovakia.

The tour started in Poland’s Gdansk where Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond met their three cars: a Chevrolet SSR, a Crosley Convertible, and a Mitsuoka Le-Seyde. They headed west after spending a day or two there filming before arriving in Zielona Gora. Known for its famous vineyards, it’s not hard to guess why they stopped there.

Following this, the crew then drove to the city of Poznan where they carried out time trials at the Tor Poznań race track. Here, Hammond crashed his open-wheeled race car before they continued their journey to Stalag Luft 3, a German prisoner of war camp.

Now, it’s been revealed that the trio has traveled into Slovakia, but not after James May broke down in his Crosley, forcing him to take what I assume to be the backup car – a hot rod based on a 1959 Ford Popular. This has followed them since Gdansk, but with May’s car breaking down, he’s been forced to use it, towing the classic car on a trailer behind it.

Watch them in the behind the scenes video below:

Confirmed by the Instagram user @father_in_move, the trio passed into Slovakia since this. What they’re doing here is currently unknown. But these photos were documented by a Richard Hammond fan page:

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
