The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour: Episode 4 Social Media Reactions

Episode 4 of The Grand Tour was an interesting one for me. On one hand, seeing James’ head sticking out of his Poomobile was one of the most hilarious things I have seen all week. On the other hand, watching James pull in a bunch of construction/mining equipment seemed a bit forced. In fact, I’m getting that feeling a lot from TGT (more of an observation than complaint).

But enough about me; Episode 4 included a proper and exciting road test with a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a BMW M4 GTS, a couple of lines from The American that actually made me chuckle and not glare at the screen, a new and improved way to smuggle people in cars, and of course, the highly publicized “enviro-mental” challenge where the boys had to rebuild Land Rover Discoveries with more “eco-friendly” body work.

  1. Episode 4 has to be the worst episode of any Top Gear / Grand Tour episode so far, apart from the Porsche GT3 bit. It went downhill from there and the eco-car segment almost made me stop watching.

I really hope they can bring it back to basics, and stop doing the nonsensical scripted bits.

  2. Episode 4 was HILARIOUS!! My daughter and I laughed our arses off! If you didn’t get the overall joke making fun of “enviro-mentalists” complete delusion that we can somehow make cars out of something else besides what we do make cars out of to “save” the planet then god help you.

  3. Personally I thought episode 4 was hysterical, haven’t laughed so much in ages! Wasn’t keen on episode 2 but have loved all the others so far.

  4. I thought episode four was hilarious. I also think many people missed an important point: the amount of resources and energy consumed and pollution generated in the production of a new car; if your old car is not belching smoke everywhere, it’s less wasteful and harmful to the environment to keep it than rush out and buy these “eco-friendly” misnomers.
