The Grand Tour On 2023 Hiatus – Jeremy Clarkson’s Car Show On Pause?
According to recent reports, The Grand Tour looks like it may be going on hiatus until 2024 after a source close to the show broke the news.
The Grand Tour has been releasing special episodes sporadically for a few years now after the move away from a tent and an audience to larger, more highly produced road trips. Mid-2022 we followed Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May as they filmed an upcoming episode in Europe, but now it looks like fans will have to wait much longer than expected with episodes reportedly being pushed back until 2024.
From the quote we’ve been given, it sounds as though the hectic calendars of the presenting trio is to blame, despite us not seeing any content from all three of them together since last September when they released ‘A Scandi Flick’. It was later expected that The Grand Tour would released a Christmas special of their travels in Europe, but this never came.
According to The Sun – so this this with a pinch of salt – a source said:
“Devotees might have been disappointed and worried about the sporadic delivery of the specials. But they can relax.
“It owes more to the busy schedules of the hosts as well as the spectacular content which takes time to set up. But that does mean they’re unlikely to go out until 2024.
“The producers are set to start on the shows within weeks and cameras will start rolling towards the autumn.”
Their last episode saw the ex-Top Gear presenters travel across Norway in three rally-inspired cars as May fought against endless incidents and Richard and Jeremy generally fought between themselves. The epic landscapes and exciting plot of the episode was released to mostly positive reviews. And James May’s crash in his Mitsubishi Evo made headlines for months leading up to and after the episode was released.
