The Grand Tour Team Comments on Ken Block’s Untimely Passing Aged 55

DriveTribe, owned by Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, has paid tribute to Ken Block after learning of his tragic passing.

It was confirmed this morning that rally legend, Ken Block, has tragically passed away following a snowmobile accident near his ranch in Utah.

Block made his rallying debut in 2005 and has rose to fame with his successful rallying career, starting DC Shoes, Hoonigan Racing and Hoonigan Industries, as well as posting his Gymkhana videos on the Hoonigan YouTube channel. He is much loved in the motoring world and tributes have been flooding in on social media since the awful news was confirmed.

Block’s company, Hoonigan, confirmed the news on social media in a statement:

“It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today. Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve.”

DriveTribe and Richard Hammond have posted to social media to pay their respects to Block. They wrote:

“All of us at DriveTribe are incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of a true legend. What a talent Ken was; His ability behind the wheel was matched by his attitude outside of a car; he was so well loved by his team and the people he worked with. He really wanted the best for them and for them to be the best they could. Rest In Peace.”

James May has also posted to Twitter with a tribute to the rally driver, referring back to his first appearance on Top Gear. He wrote:

“RIP Ken Block, with thanks for some hilarious days out. Here’s the airfield drifting piece from years back.”
