The Grand Tour’s James May Posts Tribute to Ken Block After Passing Aged 55

The motoring industry and its fans have woken up to the sore news of Ken Block’s passing after a snowmobile accident in Utah. Many have flocked to post tributes to the legendary driver, including James May of Grand Tour and Top Gear fame.

James May has worked with Block several times across his career, with the most notable being Block’s first appearance on the BBC car show as he took James on his very on Top Gear special Gymkhana. This saw the rally driver taking his Subaru Impreza to its limits with May in the passenger seat as they shot across an abandoned airfield.

This film arguably made Ken Block a household name and for many, this is where their passion for rally and the Gymkhana series began.

James posted the following to Twitter this morning:

“RIP Ken Block, with thanks for some hilarious days out. Here’s the airfield drifting piece from years back.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
