Jeremy Clarkson Called “Stupid” Over £207,000 Car Choice By Girlfriend Lisa Hogan

It’s been revealed that Jeremy Clarkson was called “stupid” by his girlfriend Lisa Hogan, after deciding that he’d drive his Bentley Continental GT Mulliner to Cornwall for a holiday within the UK. Clarkson however argued that it was a “comfortable” car for him, especially if they got stuck in traffic caused by tourists.

Jeremy revealed that he’d had a short holiday of three days last week which he and Lisa spent down in Cornwall. He decided to stay within the country than have the risk of having a holiday abroad “cancelled” due to the pandemic. He also wanted to “relive his childhood” holiday and enjoy the nostalgia for a few days.

But despite his brilliant choice of car, thanks to the narrow and winding roads of the area they stayed in, he told the Sunday Times that they “never exceeded 15mph”.

“You’d see a sign saying your destination was 15 miles away and you’d reckon on being there in 20 minutes,” he wrote.

“But covering 15 miles in Cornwall takes days.”

He continued, discussing his choice of car:

“Lisa, my other half, said this had been a stupid choice as the lanes in Cornwall are narrow and we’d spend all our time backing up.”

Jeremy added that he did not agree with this, writing: “I don’t subscribe to this argument, though, because it doesn’t matter whether your car is a G-Wiz or that truck Nasa used for moving Saturn V rockets, you still can’t pass anyone.”

He continued, defending the choice:

“And nor do I think large cars are a nuisance in old fishing villages, because when it comes to creative parking I’m an Olympic gold medallist.

“I reckon I could park in Downing Street in such a way the on-site plod would be forced to agree it was legal.”

Clarkson initially declared his love for the Bentley Continental on a recent Grand Tour special, in which he modified one to cope with the harsh roads of Madagascar. Jeremy wrote the following:

I’ve done some silly things with Bentleys over the years, but this tops them all. This is the GT we arranged and helped prepare for The Grand Tour special in Madagascar. Have a look on Prime – the abuse this car soaks up is incredible. It survived, and is now back in Crewe… pic.twitter.com/BeCt1Xp63E

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
