Jeremy Clarkson On Rupert Murdoch’s “Wish List” For New TV Station Alongside Piers Morgan

A “wish list” of star presenters for Rupert Murdoch’s latest media investment has been compiled by the i newspaper, which includes Clarkson’s Farm presenter Jeremy Clarkson, football pundit Jermaine Jenas, and LBC host Nick Ferrari. TalkTV is Murdoch’s latest attempt to revolutionize television.

Piers Morgan signed a £50 million global deal to host a talkTV program and contribute op-eds to Mr Murdoch’s UK and US papers. Mr Murdoch now says he is ready to pay “significant money” to hire proven TV talent to join Morgan at the station, which has goals of competing with BBC and Sky as well as signalling the death-knell for GB News.

Jeremy Clarkson, who already produces columns for both The Sun and Sunday Times, is a focus for Murdoch, according to i. And while Jeremy has always been close to Murdoch, his attachments to Amazon to produce shows such as The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm may make this potential move impossible. However, with The Grand Tour contract soon coming to an end according to reports, could a move by Jeremy and his co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May possibly be on the cards?

James May also has a number of shows currently being produced under Amazon such as Oh Cook and the Our Man In travel series. Contrasting this, Richard is releasing his own show, Richard Hammond’s Workshop, later this month for Discovery+.

Another presenter in the sights of Murdoch is Jermain Jenas, a noted sports journalist who works for both the BBC and BT Sport. He also co-hosts The One Show and may transition to talkTV’s entertainment or sports coverage.

The addition of a Ferrari to the lineup would be especially useful since the new station will heavily rely on material from its talkRADIO sister station. On his LBC Breakfast show, which earned him the Press Club’s Journalists’ Laureate award last week, Ferrari is skilled at mocking and teasing stories out of phone-in guests.

This is an interesting time for media, with explosive expansion from several companies including Amazon, Disney, and Netflix, meaning regardless of what happens to Jeremy, Richard, and James after The Grand Tour does come to an end, they’ll surely find more work if they want it.
