Jeremy Clarkson Retaliates To Attacks Over Comments On David Attenborough

The Grand Tour’s Jeremy Clarkson has lashed out at British icon David Attenborough after watching his new series, Frozen Planet II. Claiming that the series focusses only on building a “message on climate change”, the Clarkson’s Farm presenter took to his column for The Sun to vent his anger.

Jeremy has often had a unique view on climate change, with him shrugging it off in 2005 but more recently in 2019 admitting that it is an issue. After filming for The Grand Tour, he noted in a column that he saw the effects of global warming while filming in Southeast Asia.

“The irony is not lost on me,” he wrote.

“A man who hosted a car programme for 30 years, limited to seven miles per hour by global warming.

“It’s the first time that we’ve ever admitted to there being global warming.”

Now however, he wrote about the annoyance he had towards the program in his column, questioning Attenborough’s “lack of involvement” in producing the films.

“Today, Sir Attenborough is too old to appear in the films and I’m afraid he doesn’t even write the script any more.”

He continued, adding that the script is now written by other people:

“He just reads out words that have been written by a team of vegan communists who have only one thing on their minds.

“Climate change.”

He goes on to describe the program as a “joke”, adding that “we learn nothing at all”:

“I’ve been watching Frozen Planet II and it’s a joke, because we learn nothing at all.

“We see some dramatic footage of a polar bear and before we are told anything at all, we are warned that because of human activity and capitalism and Donald Trump, the poor bear’s habitat is disappearing.”

Because of this, he’s turned him watching Frozen Planet II into a drinking game. “it’s the only way to make this half-a***d twaddle tolerable,” he wrote.

Since he made these comments, readers of the column have attacked Jeremy on Twitter with one leaving a long message for the presenter:

“Dear Mr Clarkson,” their message reads.

“You are not a scientist.

“David Attenborough and many who contribute to his documentaries are.

“Science is a profession, requires years of dedication and hard work. Your climate-change-supporting Murdock client journalism shames you.

“You’re on the wrong side of history, and you should use your fame for good.

“Listen to the experts.”

Clarkson was quick to agree with the message, while defining what he didn’t like about the show:

“I agree that the climate is changing. I just don’t want to be told about it endlessly in a programme about penguins”

Another Twitter user singled out Jeremy for his column:

“Brilliant articulation, thanks @ClimateHuman⁩. It’s scandalous that scientifically illiterate and ignorant people with big platforms like ⁦@JeremyClarkson⁩ & ⁦@JuliaHB1⁩ get away with promoting their dangerous views. #ClimateEmergency”

A third replied to the message above, adding their anger to the mix: “How dare he slate David Attenborough , a man who has dedicated his whole life to the Natural World!!” [sic]

Jeremy quickly replied:

“I didn’t [slate] Sir Attenborough. Just the people writing his scripts.”
