In a recent newspaper article, Jeremy Clarkson has sparked controversy yet again after suggesting that climate protester Greta Thunberg required a “smacked bottom.”
Writing in his Sunday Times column, Jeremy criticized Thunberg, calling her an “annoying little bucket of ego” who has “no knowledge of how the world works” and no manners. He continued to write that he needs a “smacked bottom.”
“I simply don’t get the Thunberg phenomenon,” Jeremy wrote, obviously annoyed by the young girl.
“She has no knowledge of how the world works, no manners and no letters after her name because instead of going to school, she’s been busy sailing round the world so she can be mardy and abusive to grown-ups.
“What she needs is a smacked bottom.”
The Grand Tour presenter then called her a “pest” before giving her advice consisting of travelling to countries such as China and India instead of the United States where she promoted what they “know already”. He continued to call her “timid and wet”, before telling her to talk on something like Fox News instead of CNN or the BBC.
Strangely, Jeremy then went on to say that climate activists should protest by killing themselves.
Obviously, this caused an uproar of readers who were disgusted by his comments:
One person posted the following: “61 year old Jeremy Clarkson calling for 18 year old Greta Thunberg to have her bottom smacked deserves a far more WTAF???? response than it got.
“Middle aged white men using column inches to have pops at a young girl who is concerned about the environment is just fucking weird.”
Journalist Ross McCarthey also noted: “Today Jeremy Clarkson said Greta Thunberg ‘needs a smacked bottom’.
“Real normal s**t.”
Another Twitter user, a fan of Greta, also gave their input: “What is about Greta Thunberg that makes all old guys gets angry and defensive? Brilliant to see so many young people in Glasgow caring about this planet.”
