Jeremy Clarkson Sparks Hate Towards UK “Curtain Twitchers” During Lockdown

As we all know, Jeremy Clarkson is not one to keep his opinions on the down low, and once again he has hit out at someone who reported Amanda Holden for travelling to Cornwall to visit her parents during the current Coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Slightly contradicting himself, Clarkson, explained that he “hates the man” but also understands that Amanda Holden “shouldn’t have broken the lockdown rules”.

So, What Happened?

The Heart FM host, Amanda Holden, travelled four and a half hours to Cornwall after receiving a “distressing” call from her step-father. A representative of Amanda Holden has publicly explained that Amanda takes the coronavirus rules very seriously and did not make any contact with anyone other than her step-father and mother.

In a statement, the representative said: “Amanda is aware that all families are going through difficulty during these turbulent times, but received a distressing telephone call from her elderly father on Friday afternoon. On balance, Amanda felt the round-trip to Cornwall was necessary to contain the matter at her family home.

The very personal situation has now been aided and Amanda is back in London.” They also added: “Amanda did not act on a whim and has adhered to Covid rules every step of the way in all three lockdowns. Amanda is aware of the travel rules and is devastated she had to break them on this one occasion. Her parents are vaccinated and with Amanda testing for Covid weekly (and is negative), she felt she was not putting her parents at risk.”

Jeremy Clarkson’s Reaction To This

So, how does Jeremy Clarkson come into this? The Grand Tour and former Top Gear host has hit out at the member of the public who reported Amanda Holden to the police, branding them a “curtain twitcher”.

Clarkson explained “Police forces across Britain have now logged 120,000 hate crimes. And this morning, I’m going to make it 120,001. Because I hate the man who reported Amanda Holden to the police for going to Cornwall last week.”

Now, Clarkson did acknowledge that he knows that what Amanda did was wrong during the nation’s third lockdown, however, he claimed that he “doesn’t want to live in a country with an army of curtain twitchers reporting every lockdown infringement to the police”.
