Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm Tagged As A “Crime And Dissorder Site” By Local Police
Diddly Squat Farm, Jeremy Clarkson’s famous land from the Amazon show Clarkson’s Farm, has come under more scrutiny from the local police as they tag the area as a possible “crime and disorder site”.
After his plans to build a 60-seat restaurant alongside a carpark for 70 cars, The Grand Tour presenter has now released plans for a new type of expansion. He’s now not only looking to add an “infiltration pool”, but Clarkson also wants to build a cycle park, storage area, and landscape the area around the shop. This will include moving 9 breeds of tree, 12 shrubs, and 10 hedgerow styles into the area.
But Jeremy isn’t finding this venture to be overly lucky as not only have the public and local council complained on multiple accounts, but now the police are being added to the list of organisations who aren’t too fond of the business.
Clarkson is trying to cater to these complaints, saying that this expansion will “serve to aid the flow of traffic in the vicinity of the site entry and exit points on Chipping Norton Road and will alleviate pinch points within the site which together with the provision of additional parking capacity will ease congestion.”
The carpark will be mirror the shop’s opening times,. 9.30am to 4.30pm Wednesday to Sunday. But Kevin Cox, Thames Valley Police Crime Prevention Design Advisor, still isn’t happy, arguing that he has “concerns that it may be vulnerable to crime and antisocial behaviour.”
He continued:
“Currently I do not feel this application adequately considers the potential for crime and disorder.”
He says that “planned broadcasting of the next series of the programme [is] filmed at the location, may lead to repetition of the highway disruption and subsequent safety issues seen previously.”
He adds that gates and security like CCTV should be added to the farm, as well as lighting.
“I welcome the applicant to make contact with me for any advice or guidance relating to this or future applications, to ensure that all opportunities are taken to design out crime from the outset,” he says, inviting Clarkson to a conversation on the matter.
