Richard Hammond Collects His New Morgan Plus Six Specced By Fans

Late last year, Richard Hammond took us on the exciting journey of speccing and building his new Morgan Plus Six sports car. In fact, he wanted us all to be involved so badly, that he let us choose the colour of his interior via a poll on his site DriveTribe, and with a 60/40 result towards red, Richard Hammond is now ready to show off the finished product with its gorgeous red leather interior.

Let us know if you voted and if you like the final outcome!

The exterior of this classic-looking British car showcases both gloss and matte black paint, with the contrasting red interior popping in the sun when the roof is folded down. The bonnet is long and the vents that cool the BMW-made 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine are hand cut. It produces 335hp and 369lb-ft of torque on the standard car, but Hammond’s example is fitted with a higher performance exhaust which boosts power to 400hp. 0-60mph, according to Morgan, is 4 seconds, but Hammond believes the understate their figures just like Porsche.

The video shows a happy and smiling Hammond, full of praise for the new car and its innovative CX-Generation aluminium architecture. On Hammond’s first pull, both him and his life-long friend erupt into a synchronised “bl***y hell”! But later on in the video, Hammond does drop a bit of a bomb.

He explains that his next car will more than likely be electric, and that this Morgan could be the very last combustion engined car he ever orders. And because of that, he wanted it to be special.

We think he’s made the right decision.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
