This 1,239 HP Toyota Supra Video Shows Just What Tuning Can Do

The 3.0L i6 2JZ engine that originally came with the fourth gen A80 Toyota Supra put out about 280 horsepower. That was nice at the time, but thankfully for Supra owners, Toyota made their motors especially ready to be turned to 11.

Thanks to their overbuilding, and a devoted number of Toyota Supra tuners, there are some of these engines bouncing around today that can pass the 1,000 horsepower mark. In the video below, form AutopTopNL, we have one of those legendary cars.

This A80 Supra has a staggering 1,239 HP and 826 lb-ft of torque. That’s right up there with some of the multi-million dollar hypercars of the world, albeit on a home-brew kind of level. Either way, this Supra blasts past 124 mph (200 km/h) in no time at all.

It whines like a jet engine, seriously not even stopping for breath as it sprints towards a top speed of 300 km/h. The car logs an insane 100 km/h to 200 km/h time of just 4.77 seconds in this video!

It hardly seems possible that a car over 20 years old can have this much headroom for improvements. They need to make some kind of advancement in tachometer technology before the new Supras can ever hope to be this legendary.
