Amber Heard Came On Top Gear For More Fame: Jeremy Clarkson

Actress Amber Heard appeared in Top Gear‘s ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ in series 16, episode 5 in 2011. Jeremy Clarkson mentions in his latest column how her team approached the producers to appear on the show so that ‘she could be seen.’

Heard has been in the news lately for her defamation trial with actor and ex-husband Johnny Depp. Since the matter has been a hot topic worldwide, Jeremy recalls the interaction with the actress’s team and mentions that she wasn’t quick around the track, despite the claims of her being a petrolhead.

Not many had heard of Heard when she appeared on Top Gear. However, she was on the show to promote her new film ‘Drive Angry’ that starred actor Nicholas Cage. Jeremy said in his latest column on The Sun:

“Back in 2011, Amber Heard’s people called to ask the Top Gear producers if she could be a Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.”

“Immediately the producer replied: ‘Amber who?’

“They explained that she was a lesbian petrolhead who loved muscle cars, so we signed her up straight away.”

“And then, on the day she was to be filmed, her people said that she wasn’t really a lesbian and that she couldn’t drive a manual.”

He continued: “On the track, she turned out to be slower than the BBC’s then political correspondent, Nick Robinson, and former Sun Page 3 girl Peta, 23, from Essex.”

“Still, she got what she wanted. A bit more fame.”

Jeremy had taken a dig at the couple’s affairs when the case was in London High Court in 2020 by calling it ‘boring.”

Quite funnily, he took to Twitter to begin a vote: “Vote: which is more boring? Harry and Meghan or Depp and Heard?”
