Top Gear: Chris Harris Slams Mazda MX5 Miata Owner During Hilarious Outtake

In a recently released Top Gear outtake, Chris Harris takes some time off the stage to go and mingle with the live audience, which for this season, is based outside. What this has meant is that audience members were able to stand with their cars, a lot of which were rather tasty.

Harris, being an automotive genius, buries himself within all of these motors, obviously enjoying talking with the owners and asking plenty of questions. But the first car he lays eyes on is a Mk1 Mazda MX5, or Miata for those across the pond. It’s obviously been modified with aftermarket wheels and some kind of lowering springs or coilovers, but of course, Harris’ eyes stick to the wing.

“Right, first off, MX5 with a wing,” he says while pointing at it.  “That downforce must be handy”

The owner replied, obviously a little embarrassed: “Yeah, it is.”

“Yeah, I’m sure it is, right,” Harris responds, quickly turning to a Jensen S-V8 next to it and continuing the conversation elsewhere.

The MX5 is well known for its low power but high agility thanks to its low weight, and is often considered the best bang-for-buck sports car you can buy. Despite this, Harris isn’t a fan of the little roadster, with him advertising just how little he likes them in a YouTube video he did back in 2012.

“I just don’t quite get what all the fuss is all about,” he says in a voice-over as he skids an example around a corner in slow-motion. “These days, I’m haunted by the bl***y things!”
