Top Gear: Fans Sing Praises For Sabine Schmitz Tribute As Jeremy Clarkson Returns To Show

With the latest Top Gear series coming to an end, fans were happy to see a half-hour tribute to the Queen of the Nurburgring, Sabine Schmitz following the final episode. But this wasn’t a normal episode with Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness, and Freddie Flintoff, no. The majority of Top Gear presenters ever to work with Sabine returned to the show to air their love for the racing driver, including The Grand Tour trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.

Sabine became famous worldwide after she was featured on an early Top Gear episode where she ripped into Jeremy as she taught him to race on the Nurburgring. This was then followed up the next year when she raced a Ford Transit van around the ‘Ring. This, plus her tremendously successful racing career, pushed her into the limelight, and her happiness and joy for life was prominent.

This tribute emphasised just how much she loved life and loved racing, and these feelings were infectious to anyone who worked with her. There were lovely words from the current and previous presenters, Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid, and even special guests such as Toto Wolf and his partner.

Fans were quick to air their strong feelings on Sabine and her emotional tribute.

The tribute will air on terrestrial TV on BBC, Wednesday April 7th, 7:30pm, and is currently able to be viewed on BBC iPlayer.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]

  1. I wish I met her she sounded like a very nice person and very happy the kinds of person that you would like to be. I watched her on the t.v, but I thought what Clarkson said about her was unkind and not nice, and I hope that she resrt in peace she enjoyed what she did and enjoyed life 😁😁
